Coronavirus Update – Letter to all our supporters

Dear PSALMS supporter,

Following the development of the Covid-19 virus and UK government guidelines, PSALMS has stopped running its face-to-face activities across all of our areas for the foreseeable future. However, during this strange and uncertain time we are still working full time to engage with and help support the children, young people and families across Gloucestershire, which we will now mostly be doing online and via social media. We continue to pray for them daily and would be continually grateful if you could join us in this through prayer at 10.10am and 2.10pm each day. Please can we encourage you to like and follow ‘PSALMS UK’ both on Facebook and Instagram so that we can keep in touch and also provide you with some helpful materials as well as share with appropriate affiliated groups.

Each day the PSALMS team will be sharing a daily challenge/ game ideas / activities /craft ideas to keep you and your families entertained, which will hopefully create a bit of a community too, by people commenting scores and photos of their creations. We will also be sharing links to other pages and resources you may find helpful both online and in your local area. It has been a great encouragement to see some of these already reaching over 2000 people.

In addition to this, several of PSALMS’ youth activities will be trying ‘Google hangouts’ as a way to still chat and engage as a group despite being apart, if you wish to help with reflections during these time please contact the member of the team you would regularly partner with to explore the options we are taking or that you would want to share. We continue to try and facilitate work of the local church like Simon joining with the St Paul’s community to share important details for support and if you know of plans from your local church, again, please let us know how we can support this.

We appreciate that this won’t be the same as being together physically, but we are hoping that these online initiatives will go a small way in helping to create and maintain community at this time. Please do ensure you are engaging with your local church community at this time and again let us know how we can support this at this time!

If you have any questions, queries or ideas of what we could, including encouraging or inspiring scriptures and reflections, do then please do get in touch and do spread the word so that as many families can benefit from this as possible!

We continue to think and pray for you all and are thankful for your faithful prayer for us and the team.

We are reminded in Deuteronomy 31:8, ‘The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.’ Our prayer is that we serve our faithful and unwavering God today and each day during this isolation period to share his light of hope into an uncertain time.

God bless,

The PSALMS team
