PSALMS have partnered with the Diocese of Gloucester in exploring how Health & Fitness can compliment the existing sports ministry work in the Diocese. Since September, Jon Taylor from The Armoury has been piloting and exploring Faith and Fitness classes around Gloucestershire. These fitness classes are a fun and friendly way to explore holistic fitness. They centre around The Bible and allow people to explore faith and overall wellbeing.
The pilot faith and fitness classes started in Holy Trinity Minchinhampton with mobility; family fitness and adult fitness classes. Throughout the four trial sessions we have explored the themes of: endurance, living life to the full, change and determination. All these themes point and show Jesus as a radical servant King!
At Minchinhampton we averaged 16 people for the day. We were hoping to grow from this point, however, this second lockdown has halted the progress. We will be filming faith & fitness sessions online (from the PSALMS website and YouTube page) during lockdown which will be a free resource for people to use to keep mentally, physically and spiritually sharp from home.
I thank God for the opportunity to share His Good News via fitness. I believe that this is a fresh way to engage with communities around the Diocese of Gloucester.
